Music Immersion Class Descriptions
Music Theory
Students will learn the FUNdamentals of music which includes: sight reading, rhythm, harmony, melody and dynamics. This course also includes music symbols, scales, intervals, and a basic composition project. Students will
gain an extensive understanding of the music while acquiring an advanced vocabulary.
Technique
Students will learn instrument specific methods for proficiency. Each class is tailored towards the students instrument of choice. Units include: scales, cadences, chords, bowing techniques, posture, and body awareness.
Music History / Appreciation
A survey of Western Music from periods such as: Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. Composers such as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Liszt, and Vivaldi will be examined as well as their individual styles of composition. A comparative study of 18th - 21st century music will be analyzed as well as cultural influences.
Private Lessons
Students will be taught the fundamentals of technique and theory specific to the instrument of choice.
